L'astronaute Craig Collins, porté disparu et présumé mort à la suite d'un incident d'OVNI qui a laissé le SID hors d'usage, est retrouvé vivant et en bonne santé. Mais alors qu'une opération de réparation sur le SID est prévue, le colonel Lake et le colonel Grey découvrent que Collins n'est plus l'homme qu'il était.
